Flowers in a hail storm - more 8a flash

El Nino is crazy! 2 months ago it seemed already way too hot to climb at Joshua Tree and now we experienced an exceptional day with wind, sun, clouds and even some hail! Good conditions to flash more V11 (8a) stuff!

But what was most impressive about this afternoon at one of the more remote areas called the Underground was the blossoming cacti! Even though the approach is 1,5 hours and more than 350m vertical meters the amazing colors made us forget the hike.

[Bright colours mark the trail up to the Underground]

[Thommy finishing up the steep incline with dark, gloomy clouds lurking in the background]

[Done! After 1,5 hours of hiking we were rewarded with truly spectacular views...]

[...and spectacular bouldering! TK warming up flashing Nicole Face, V4...]

[...and me warming up flashing Hot Rats, V7]

[Next up, a steep and crimpy line by grand master Fred Nicole: Black Feet, V11]

[Time for a short break: Absorbing the atmosphere at the Underground]

[Flashing the ultra classic Dark Matter, V9 during a short but intense hail storm!!!

Thanks to Moses and the strong girl who was with him for the beta!]

[This is what I wanted to do: Flashing Blood Drive, V11]

[Doing the last hard move into the undercling at Blood Drive, V11 or 8a]

[Beautyful shapes and colours in a harsh desert environment]

[The evening light illuminates Joshua Tree in a mystic way. Time to go home...]
